Ecofeed challenges: Sustainable feeding of fattening cattle with reduced methane gas generation and environmentally sustainable fresh meat and meat derivatives
DOMCA participates in the Ecofeed project (RTC-2017-6199-2) of the call Retos de la Sociedad promoted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The consortium is led by the Extremaduran company El Encinar de la Humienta SA together with the Centro Tecnológico Alimentario de Extremadura (CTAEX), the University of Extremadura and the University of Seville.
The general objective of the project is the development of more sustainable feeding alternatives for cattle through the formulation of fattening feeds capable of generating lower methane gas emissions in the animal's rumen, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and generating fresh meat and meat derivatives that are more environmentally friendly, healthy and natural. DOMCA has developed formulations based on alliaceae extracts and other plant extracts with antiparasitic activity.
The project is financed with ERDF funds. DOMCA has a budget of €94,947 which will be financed in the form of a loan.
