The project is part of the ALIMTECH tractor project, made up of 15 companies and 12 technology centres and universities from all over the country, and seeks the incorporation of functional additives in animal feed. to help animals adapt to the negative effects of climate change and to reduce the emission of pollutant gases from livestock farming, the aim of which is to develop functional feed additives.

The FEED4CHANGE project: Functional additives for animal feeds

DOMCA, in collaboration with the DMC Research Center and the technology centre LEITAT are working on the FEED4CHANGE project.

The main objective of the project is to obtain phytogenic and microalgae extracts as rich sources of bioactive compounds to design functional feed additives.

On the other hand, this project stands out for its commitment to sustainability and the circular economy through the development of cleaner and more efficient extraction technologies.

The functional additives to be developed promise to revolutionise livestock management by offering direct benefits in improving animal welfare, mitigating the effects of heat stress and the reduction of pollutant excretions, mainly nitrogen and methane.

After the selection and characterisation of the bioactive principles, DOMCA's research team will evaluate in vitro, The results of this study, in different monogastric cell lines and in rumen digesters, their efficacy in order to develop advanced nutritional formulations that will eventually be validated in trials. in vivo.

ALIMTECH: Tractor Project

The ALIMTECH project was born out of the pressing need for the agri-food industry to adapt to the global landscape in a smarter and more technological way.

With an approach ranging from the traditional to the innovative, such as insect-based ingredients, ALIMTECH focuses on improving the transparency and efficiency of the entire food chain.

Through the ALIM TRACK platform supported by blockchaiN technology, the tractor project aims to strengthen traceability and contribute to a more competitive, sustainable and efficient industry.

With the collaboration of 15 companies and led by the company TSK, it also has the active participation of 12 Technology Centres and Universities from all over the country.

ALIMTECH represents a joint effort to transform the way we perceive and experience the agri-food industry.

The development of functional additives and their incorporation into more sustainable feed proposed by FEED4CHANGE demonstrates ALIMTECH's commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.

Furthermore, successful implementation of these findings would provide the animal nutrition sector with new tools to address the challenges of the future, ensuring more resilient and planet-friendly livestock farming.
