Increased resource consumption due to citizen demand increases the generation of agri-food waste, 47% of which is produced in processing factories. According to the FAO, each EU inhabitant throws away 179 kg of food per year. Reducing food waste is key to achieving Zero Hunger and SDGs 2 and 12. The recovery of agri-food by-products, promoted by the European Commission within the Circular Economy Plan, stands out as a sustainable alternative. These by-products can be used for their antimicrobial, antioxidant and antifungal properties, integrating them into food and packaging, prioritising reuse and recycling according to sustainability criteria.

GO DEMOEXTRACT seeks to boost innovation in the agri-food sector by training professionals and implementing extractive technologies and bioconversion processes, reducing the technological gap in the agricultural sector. It aims to promote cutting-edge technological solutions to increase agricultural resources and adapt to the growing demand for food and industrial constraints. It is also aligned with sustainable consumption trends and the SDGs, developing technologies that optimise production, reduce waste and valorise low value-added by-products, ensuring the sustainability of the food chain and responding to new social needs.

DOMCA's main activity is the development and marketing of natural products for the agri-food industry, firmly committed to a model of sustainable and responsible development with its environment. Under this business vision, the revaluation of by-products and the identification of new raw materials with potential acquires a strategic value. The objectives of the project are aligned with the company's strategic line in R&D, mainly in obtaining new compounds of natural origin (from plants and microorganisms) with technological and functional properties, the development of natural treatments for agriculture and post-harvest, the use of by-products from the agri-food industry, the development of new ingredients and additives for natural and sustainable animal nutrition, or the research of plant extracts to obtain functional ingredients for human nutrition.
