Project Sustbeefnability: New feeding strategies for sustainable beef production
DOMCA participates in the ITC-20181014 project, SUSTBEEFNABILITY. This project has been selected among the 63 projects approved, out of a total of 187 submitted, to receive a grant from the ERDF-INNTERCONECTA 2018 Programme. Co-financed with European Union Structural Funds, it aims to support experimental development initiatives in the form of cooperative projects between companies, with a geographical location in Andalusia, the Canary Islands, Castilla La Mancha, Castilla-León, Extremadura and Murcia.
The consortium formed to develop the SUSTBEEFNABILITY project is led by EL ENCINAR DE HUMIENTA S.A. in collaboration with the companies PIENSOS TECA, DOMCA and TROIL VEGAS ALTAS, supported by the University of Seville and the National Food Technology Centre of Extremadura CTAEX.
The objective of the project SUSTBEEFNABILITY, is research into the use of agri-food industry by-products and plant extracts in animal feed thanks to their action in reducing GHGs (greenhouse gases) such as methane. More specifically, the project concerns the feeding of beef cattle, introducing by-products such as alpechín and pomace from the olive oil industry, and plant extracts such as capseicin, eugenol, carvacrol or cinnamaldehyde.
This project will be developed in a coordinated manner by each of its members in the communities of Extremadura and Andalusia,
The project will run from July 2018 to December 2020 and is framed within the FEDER INTERCONECTA 2018 call, will be subsidised by the CDTI, supported by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and co-financed with European Union Structural Funds within the Operational Programme for Intelligent Growth 2014-2020. It has a budget of 1,057,880 euros and a grant of 528,667.30 euros.
