Our colleagues Andrea Ricci (commercial director), Víctor Manuel Fernández (quality department) and Elías González Gragera (expert in microbiology), Joaquín Ruiz, member of Red Andaluza de Dinamización FP DUAL and Marcelo Vázquez, president of the Círculo Tecnológico de Granada, participated in this first day of promotion of vocational training, held in the municipal theatre of Alhendín.

The event, which was attended by more than 300 people, was attended by the IES Temple de la Malahá, Alonso Cano de Dúrcal and Alhendín de Alhendín and was attended by the schools and guidance departments of these schools.

The delegate for Educational Development and Vocational Training and University, Research and Innovation, María José Martín, was in charge of inaugurating the first of a series of orientation and vocational training conferences that will be held in the different regions of the province throughout the school year with the aim of informing and disseminating Vocational Training.

Specifically, the conference aims to provide information on vocational training, its characteristics, the educational offer that exists in the province and to publicise the emerging business sectors in each region. It also aims to bring together companies that already participate and need vocational training to share their experiences and present them to teachers, students and families, as well as to invite students who have completed their training in companies through FP Dual or FCT and are currently on the staff of the same, to tell their experience of work immersion thanks to vocational training.

According to the delegate for Educational Development, «the growth of Vocational Training in our province is exponential if we compare it to previous years where it was not given the importance that this type of education has to train great workers». In this sense, she advocated that «we must break with the idea of the past that Vocational Training is for those who do not want to study, on the contrary, the cut-off mark for vocational training cycles, whether intermediate or higher, is increasingly higher in order to be able to study these courses».

María José Martín stressed that the growth of Vocational Training in the province «is very well studied, taking into account the real needs of the business fabric and the areas where these needs and demands of the population are located».

According to the delegate «more and more schools are joining these initiatives every year. It is an unstoppable growth that is taking place in our province and in our autonomous community».

The delegate highlighted the collaboration of the business network that welcomes the students, offering them specialised, up-to-date training adapted to the needs of the business sector.

This academic year, a total of 17,618 students are enrolled in vocational training courses that form part of the education system. The province of Granada has 89 publicly funded educational centres offering vocational training courses. The offer of dual projects in the province of Granada is located in 42 educational centres. A total of 3,776 training positions are offered in dual vocational training in Granada with the participation of 1,309 companies.
